Here I am PART I

My Dear Fans!!!

I am so sorry! I have been terrible about blogging. I am back and will be adding video blogs, posting those on my youtube.com/stephaniequayle until I can do that directly onto the website! Of course if you are on my facebook fan page you see all my goings ons!

I wanted to fill you in on some of the extraordinary moments over the course of these last months, a mixture of both music and this precious thing we call life.

After the CNFR in June in Wyoming (THANK YOU KICKSTARTERS!!!!) I went to Montana for some writing and met up with the Panther Pride Committee of Belgrade, Montana.

Belgrade is just minutes away from my hometown of Bozeman, and the Belgrade Public School budget (like everywhere) has been dramatically hit by the Mill Levy Failing. The Panther Pride Committee came together to raise funds for the school and that is where I came into play. We put together a concert to kick- start this awesome concept...where 100% of the monies raised (the students sell tickets for $20) go to the students. What is also exciting about this is that the students have a say in how it is spent within the school once the money is raised. With our generous community coming together we were able to kick off the fundraiser with a concert, where the concert tickets went to the cause as well. The concert was AWESOME! The audience of students, parents and our awesome community-the interaction with the band- it was one of those once in a life-timer nights. Not only that, but at the end of the show the Belgrade Chamber Choir came out and sang with us on a song I wrote called "Be Who You Are." To say this night was amazing would the understatement of the century.

Now, anyone who knows me knows I can't just get a little involved. I'm all in or I don't do it-so...I spent most of September speaking to the students at the Belgrade High School as well as the Belgrade Intermediate School and spreading the word about what we were up to throughout the community utilizing radio, tv and the press. I had the opportunity to speak to one particular English class and I was/am blown away. I was able to spend time and hear their stories get to know their dreams and aspirations. What an incredible opportunity to discuss life's possibilities. The message I tried to explore with the students is "The only one who can quit you-is you. No one can force you to quit." I remind myself of this often. To see the light in these young students' eyes was incredible and I can’t wait to visit them in the next coming weeks when I am back in Montana.

Montana, hail storms and horses!

Happy Friday! I am here in Bozeman, my hometown taking in the beauty and lots of deep breaths! We are full steam ahead and the awareness is growing everyday-I am beyond words grateful! I have a fun lil story to tell you about before I go grab my guitar and start this song I woke up with this am...

I was at Copper Spring Ranch Wednesday for my first roping lesson with Rod and Stefani Lyman. A truly extraordinary experience to say the least. For me horses are the greatest sense of peace, when I am around them I think of nothing except their wonderful presence. I rode a quarter horse by the name of Peso who just seemed to know everything I was thinking, the ride was smooth and exhilarating! Now to the rope...Being a lefty I was told I would be limited learning left, so I learned right! Who knew? Rod cut the rope for me so that I could get used to the feel of it without the weight. He's not only a great teacher but he had me laughing so hard my belly was aching! Great people, horses, laughter-amazing day!

After a few hours we heard a rumble and jumped off our horses to get to the barn...and then the hail came. Ok...I was born and raised in Bozeman and I have never seen nor felt (I have a goose egg on my head) hail like this. Ice rocks the size of golf balls? What in the world? We made it to the barn and were all a bit stunned by the quick hail that came upon us. After it passed we went back up for another round-and then the hail came again-this time we made it before it could nail us. We filled the barn with horses and ourselves and watched the hail come down.

Finally the hail stopped and now I had to go look at my dad's car I had borrowed to get to the Ranch. Let's just say I was glad I was hit by hail on the head so I could break that to my dad before I had to tell him his car was covered in dents from the hail...I think it went something like this, "Dad, feel this bump on my head from the hail...No the car is ok...it just has dents all over it but they are smaller than the tennis ball hail that hit the other side of town!"

Have a great weekend you wonderful, supportive, awesome peeps! Now, where's my guitar??!! -- Posted by stephanie

Happy New Year?

Wow! What an incredible first month of 2010! It's amazing to think we are already in the first week of February. New Year's was wonderful spending time with my precious family in Bozeman, Montana. I played a few local shows when I got back to Venice, CA and then it was off to Sundance in Park City, UT.

Sundance was incredible for multiple reasons. Coordinating 5 peeps (kyle, Asaf-guitar genius, Kenji-guitar genius and Aubrey-fiddlin beauty and my silly self), performing at the Moving Pictures Magazine and Montana Film Office Event, Gibson Guitar Lodge Event, Company 3 Event and a few more...We walked the streets, took in the fresh air and thanked our lucky stars for the wonderful opportunities. Everyone put their guts into our performances and their hearts on the line and it was truly something.

Back in Venice, CA I have been writing up a storm finishing up my shark song for Sea Saves/Imaging Foundation. I am a volunteer for this organization and want to bring awareness of our precious ocean through song. The title is super secret right now but you all will be the first to know! So funny, I keep tweaking this one...I will probably be playing with the lyrics until I am in the Studio with Sir. Jim Roach(producer fantastical).

I have also been busy writing a song for the Girls For A Change Convention in Bozeman, Montana at the end of this month. I am the keynote speaker and will be performing as well as mentoring a songwriting workshop.

I love creating awareness through my songs. I am so grateful that I finally understand why I am a singer/songwriter/musician. Half the battle is understanding the WHY. Brilliant day to all. Be present, be grateful, you are enough and go get your dreams. -- Posted by stephanie

Nice to meet you Mr. Davis

Last night was truly a moment that will forever be burned into my memory! I went to the Grammy Museum to see a performance by Harry Connick Jr. and Q.A. with he and Clive Davis. Clive and Harry recently collaborated on Harry's latest album of standards. Harrry performance was incredible and I learned so much. But for me as an artist having performed on the same stage that so many Icons and Greats have, the words that Clive spoke not only filled my head and heart with more will power but confirmed the light in my eyes. What is so exciting is that not one word Clive spoke was about how the music industry is dead or anything negative about the industry. He spoke with such deliberate joy when speaking of his love of music. I understand that joy. Not to the success of Clive, (yet")but I understand the joy that music brings. I feel it all. Harry said something that will also stick with me forever, "You have to be ready for luck." These words were the words that Liza Minnelli spoke to his daughter about success when she asked. I love this phrase. I want everyone to stock this phrase in their memory bank, cuz its a doosy. As Harry said, its about practice, preparation. We must be ready for luck. -- Posted by stephanie

Reflection

As 2009 fades into November, I reflect back on this year with both gratitude, awareness, and wholeness. Not to say that this year has been easy by any means. But within the tragedy and tears, I have found joy and gratitude.

I am coming off October with more fire in my belly than ever before. It is not about moving on, but moving forward. From finishing my Debut Album, "Ain't No Housewife" to my incredible, humbling homecoming with the Hatch Groundbreaking Musician award, to finishing up the month with opening for Maria Shriver's Women's Conference, I find myself in a constant state of gratitude. There is such freedom in fighting for what you believe in. There is such freedom once you kick your fears to the curb and put all your guts into what you dream . Getting out of my own way has been the best thing I have ever done for myself and knowing and truly believing anything I dream will come to be.

I was given Dr Seuss's "Oh, the Places You'll Go" by my dear friend Lisa before I started recording the album and it truly has been an inspiration and a positive and honest outlook on this wonderful journey. I have it on my piano as we speak. I suggest if you have anyone in your life embarking on a new journey that you recommend this book or gift it. Read it out loud, read it loud.

"Congratulations! Today is your day. You're off to Great Places! You're off and away!" Dr. Seuss -- Posted by stephanie

Viper Room Tomorrow!!

Good morning Monday. I am so excited for the show on Tuesday night at the Viper Room. I have never performed on their main stage before and this is definitely a defining moment in my career to date. There have been quite a lot of those defining moments over the last 8 months. I am grateful and blessed that my hard work is paying off. I love to perform, love to make music and I love to write songs that inspire just like I have been inspired by so many incredible songs. Music moves me, so glad to be part of the movement. -- Posted by stephanie
