The American public, as well as the Congress, has made it clear that wild horses on federal land are living symbols of the historic and pioneer spirit of the American West and must be protected. Although it is the government’s obligation and duty to carry out this mandate, it is worthwhile to explore a public/private partnership to accomplish this goal. If we can together establish a plan for the permanent retirement and care of these magnificent animals, it will be a legacy that all Americans can be proud of.

My view is for a wild horse sanctuary that will be a tourist destination similar to our National Parks where Americans and tourists from around the world can come, observe and be a part of this great part of American history. We can use this treasure to promote eco-tourism and at the same time provide for permanent retirement and management of these American icons to which we owe so much. I, myself, am an immigrant to America and came because of America’s freedoms, can do attitude, and respect for its open spaces and natural heritage of which these wild horses are a part. I look forward to being a part of preserving this for generations to come.

The 62nd CNFR is celebrating its 12th year in Casper, WY, June 13-19, at the Casper Events Center.

Welcome to the 2010 College National Finals Rodeo!

The CNFR is the "Rose Bowl" of college rodeo. It is where the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association crowns individual event champions in saddle bronc riding, bare back riding, bull riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing, breakaway roping, and goat tying. National team championships are also awarded to both men's and women's teams. Over 400 cowboys and cowgirls from over 100 universities and colleges compete in Casper each year. Contestants compete all year in one of the NIRA's 11 regions for a chance to rope or ride at the CNFR.

The top three students in each event, and top two men's and women's teams from the NIRA's 11 regions will qualify for the CNFR
